Dear Friends and Supporters of New Voices for Reproductive Justice,
We are celebrating our 10th Annual Women of Color HERStory Month™ through honoring the culture, accomplishments and legacy of leadership of women, girls and femmes of color. Though the calendar of our month of celebration is February 15-March 15, sometimes the weather forces us to pause and consider the health and wellbeing of our community.
Taking this into deep consideration, we have decided to postpone the Women of Color Political Luncheon™. The new date by Wednesday, April 5th. We want everyone who is invested in building the power of women, femmes and girls of color in Ohio to be able to attend without having to navigate precarious weather. This event is an important platform to amplify and shift the conditions concerning criminalization and incarceration of women and girls of color.
If you purchased a ticket, it is valid for the new date. If you would like a refund, please request it through Eventbrite: http://wocpl17.eventbrite.com. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com. Thank you.
Join New Voices for Reproductive Justice for the @Women of Color Political Lunch™ 2017 during Women of Color HERStory Month® 2017 as we engage with national women’s health advocates, activists and leaders about the greatest social, economic and political issues facing women of color on Wednesday, April 5, 10a-2p at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging.
This year’s theme is “Reconstructing Justice: The Incarceration and Criminalization of Women and Girls of Color in Ohio.”
Women of Color HERStory Month® and New Voices Cleveland will honor the lives and sacrifices of Bresha Meadows and Tyra Patterson, a Black girl and Black woman in Ohio, who are currently wrongly incarcerated. This luncheon will also highlight the health disparities experienced by women and girls who are incarcerated. Everyday, women of color are criminalized everyday in all aspects of our lives, this luncheon will explore how the intersection of the push out of Black girls in schools, incarceration and criminalization of women and girls of color are tearing families and communities apart in the Ohio and across the nation.
This year's keyonte is Shakyra Diaz, Midwest Regional Director of the Alliance for Safety and Justice and Leadership Council Member for New Voices Cleveland. We will also be joined by Dorianne Mason, Staff Attorney at the Ohio Justice and Policy Center.
