Celebrate Women of Color HERStory Month® 2016 at the Pittsburgh premiere of the acclaimed documentary film, No Más Bebés, by filmmakers Renee Tajima-Peña and Virginia Espino!
New Voices Pittsburgh is excited to screen this groundbreaking film that was broadcasted nationally on PBS Independent Lens. No Más Bebés details the stories of courageous Latina immigrant mothers in Los Angeles who filed a federal class action lawsuit for grievances of forced sterilization and sterilization without informed consent.
We hope you will join us to witness the powerful stories of the Madrigal 10 and their fearless 26 year old lawyer, Antonia Hernández, talk with the filmmakers about their inspiration for the film and learn from local leaders working with Latinas on women's health, Jasmine Herrera of The Midwife Center and Marcela Belin of the Birth Circle.
Please reserve your tickets online on Eventbrite: http://nomasbebespgh.eventbrite.com. We recommend a $5 Suggested Donation. The WOCHM® 2016 All-Access Pass is ON SALE NOW. Light refreshments will be served.
Special thanks to our sponsors, the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, Café con Leche and The Midwife Center for Birth and Women's Health.
